Post-class mentoring is an exclusive service I offer to my EBB® Childbirth Class attendees. You learn a TON in this class. You won’t need it all, but you often need to pull on some of the information we explored, and in a time of sleepless stress, and without a doula present, it often isn’t utilized when we need it the most.

I offer this service as a continuation of the mentorship I offer throughout the class series. While not an official “doula” role, I make myself available 24/7 to every class attendee on this Mentoring Service for real-time attention to the issue at hand. Some examples of how you may use this service:

• “My waters just broke in my sleep. Can you remind us of our options before we call our provider?”

• “My provider stated they needed to check my cervix at my next clinic appt. Is this really necessary?”

• “Our provider is recommending a cesarean birth for ‘Failure to Progress’. Is there anything else we can try before consenting?”

• “I’ve been recommended for an induction for a condition we didn’t cover in class. Can you review the evidence for induction in this circumstance?”

• “I’ve been admitted for pre-term labor. Help! We didn’t cover this in class!”

And many more. To be clear, this isn’t a “virtual doula service”. I offer those services to my class couples as well,, but this isn’t it. This is an on-call 2nd opinion from an RN, doula, and EBB® Instructor versed in the evidence and advocacy skills necessary to create your own path. I’m on “Team You”, when it sometimes feels that no one else is.

You learn a lot in the EBB® Childbirth Class. More than any other series I know, and WAY more than any generic hospital-based class. The only experience I care about is the one you hope to create. Sometimes, we have to make some sacrifices to achieve that goal because giving birth is nothing if not unpredictable. Things pop up that we must deal with. We don’t get the luxury of walking away in labor. But we can have someone we know and trust on our side. That knowledge can turn a potentially traumatic birth into one where “we worked the problem as baby wrote their own story”.
